Sofia Vergara indulges in some retail therapy after plastic surgery comments cause a stir

Shoe queen: Modern Family star Sofia Vergara tries on some killer heels in Barney's, Beverly Hills, yesterday

There's nothing like a bit of retail therapy to make a girl feel better.

And after her controversial comments on plastic surgery were splashed all over the Internet earlier this week, perhaps Sofia Vergara needed a bit of cheering up.

The 38-year-old Modern Family star spent a few hours in Beverly Hills department store Barney's yesterday where she tried on a few pairs of killer heels.

The Colombian-born actress, who plays Gloria Delgado in the show, sported a low key outfit of faded ripped jeans and white vest top as she tried on her shoes.

And she seemed pretty pleased with her purchases, smiling as she left the store carrying a large Barney's bag under her arm.

Perhaps Sofia was looking to buy some heels for the forthcoming Emmy awards - Modern Family has been nominated for an Outstanding Comedy Series gong.

Earlier this week, Sofia blasted plastic surgery in an interview with Esquire magazine.

'L.A. is crazy. The women all look the same now,' she said.

'That thing with the cheeks. Like Madonna. Who do they think they're fooling? It doesn't make them look young. You end up looking like a freak.'
