Hollyoaks actors may be accused of lacking in talent - and the show's producers clearly have a preference for good-looking cast members.

But, regardless of its merits as a television drama, Hollyoaks stars seem to be reaping the rewards of their jobs.

Gemma Merna is a case in point. The actress, 25, drove to the gym yesterday in her new car, a Mercedes SL 63 AMG - worth a cool £100,000.

Gemma, who plays Carmel Valentine in the show, took herself for a workout in Liverpool in the flash white version of the car.

She arrived in her gym gear, which consisted of a white Nike vest top, pink shorts and a pair of cross trainers.

After her fitness session Gemma made her way to popular eaterie Nando's.

The actress wore very little make-up and had changed into a comfy-looking pair of velour tracksuit bottoms with a matching black top and pink flip-flops.

The low-fat Portuguese-inspired food would have been a perfect post-gym meal.

Gemma has not only become one of Hollyoaks' more popular female actresses, but thanks to her cosmetically enhanced chest, she has modelled in a variety of men's magazines.

With titles such as Zoo and Nuts constantly trying to outbid each other to secure the most popular female personalities, her modelling work has no doubt been a very lucrative addition to her acting.

Last week she attended a leaving party for fellow Hollyoaks actress Melissa Walton, who plays Loretta Jones in the C4 soap.

Speaking recently about her sudden exit, Melissa revealed that plans for her character were thrown into jeopardy when her storyline clashed with a real-life story in the press and as a result Channel 4 bosses were forced to pull it.

She said: 'I’m very pleased with my exit, you know. I’m very, very pleased with what I’ve been given and I’ve really enjoyed doing it.

'I’ve probably enjoyed the last few months of filming more than I’ve enjoyed anything else that I’ve done.'
