Charlotte Church looks tired and worryingly thin as split from Gavin Henson takes its toll

Tired: Charlotte Church had heavy bags under her eyes as she picked up sandwiches at a petrol station in Cardiff

The strain of Charlotte Church and Gavin Henson's breakup was clear to see as the Welsh singer stepped out in Cardiff yesterday.

With heavy bags under her eyes and wearing a baggy T-shirt which did little to highlight her dramatic weight loss, Charlotte appeared stressed and worried as she picked up sandwiches at a local petrol station before going to visit her grandparents.

The 24-year-old singer has spent the majority of her time with her two children since she and Gavin announced their decision to split earlier this month.

Skinny: The star appears to have lost even more weight following the split from Gavin Henson

While the pair have been spending time together for the sake of their children Ruby, two, and Dexter, one, it seems unlikely they will rekindle their five-year relationship.

A statement at the time of the split read: 'They are trying their hardest to deal with this difficult time for both of them in a way which will minimise the impact on their two young children.

'They fully intend to work together and cooperate in ensuring there is as little disruption as possible to the children's lives.'

Worried: Charlotte appeared to have the weight of the world on her shoulders

And despite the reasons behind the split remaining unknown, there have been many reports speculating what could have caused the relationship breakdown.

It was claimed recently that rugby player Gavin had become increasingly jealous of his wife after she shed four stone and relaunched her career with a position as a judge on BBC talent show Over The Rainbow.

A source said: 'Charlotte and Gavin have always had jealous rows, but they've become worse in the last six months.

Amicable: The couple hope to remain friendly for the sake of their children two-year-old Ruby and Dexter, one

'He couldn't accept that her career has taken off again, while his is on hold. All he did was dictate his opinions and criticise her being too thin and looking tired.

'In the end Charlotte snapped and told him she wouldn't take his c**p anymore

Happier times: An engaged Charlotte and Gavin before the split

And while the pair are attempting to remain friends for the sake of their children, Charlotte is said to be trying to look towards the future rather than thinking about the past.

She has allegedly been spending a lot of time in the recording studio preparing for the release of her next album - hoping the new record will relaunch her pop career.

Charlotte has found new success thanks to her appearance on Over The Rainbow and even performed Donna Summer's No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) with the Dorothy hopefuls on the programme.
