'I feel old and tired': Sarah Jessica Parker on the pitfalls of motherhood

Style and the city: Sarah Jessica Parker says that, despite all her free designer clothing, she feels old and tired thanks to her twin girls

On the big screen she's the glamorous Carrie Bradshaw and, in real life, Sarah Jessica Parker is privileged enough to be able to wear clothes by some of the world's top designers.

But the Sex And The City star says she feels old and tired now that she has two children to run around after.

The 45-year-old mother-of-three has a son, James Wilke, eight, and twin daughters Marion and Tabitha born via a surrogate in June 2009.

Motherhood: SJP already has an eight-year-old son, however managing twin girls appears to be more of a testing challenge to the 45-year-old actress

Asked by Heat magazine what her beauty secret is she said: 'I don’t have one. I feel old and tired! I have children I run round after, I try to walk as much as possible, and other than that I buy every cream possible.

'I love beautiful clothes and am privileged enough to have access to a lot of them, but they’re returned the next day. They’re not mine!'

The actress was seen recently showing off her hollowed cheeks, and gaunt face as she ran errands in New York.

And along with her Madonna-like bulging, veiny arms, speculation centred on whether a new intense workout regime was having a negative impact on her body.

But she looked her familar self as she took a stroll through New York today wearing a bright pink cardigan over a brown strapless top with grey trousers, heels and a trilby hat - completing the outfit with a grey scarf.

SJP, who is married to actor Matthew Broderick, told the magazine about how her life has changed since the birth of her twins.

No bad blood: Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis are pictured leaving a press junket for the new Sex And The City movie

She explained: 'Having my boy and now the twins, life is triply delightful. When I [used to] come to London, my first stop was Harvey Nichols, but now it’s all about Hamleys. That store is amazing!'

Adding: 'The girls couldn’t be more different. One is constantly looking around and reaching out, the other is very serious and slightly aloof.'

She also described the difference between herself and her on-screen character.

The actress said: 'I don’t feel like Carrie – my life is so different, my choices are different. But I love her. I love playing her and everything about her – the good, the flawed, the mistakes, the bad choices.

Best of friends: Co-star Kristin Davis has blasted rumours that she refused to have dinner with Cattrall when the Sex And The City 2 cast filmed in Morocco

'I understand that people will blur the lines, but I feel very different. Which is probably why it works so well, because if she felt familiar to me, I would have bored of playing her a long time ago.'

With the sequel to the first Sex And The City movie tipped to be one of the biggest hits of the summer, the actress was forced to deny that there is any kind of rift between herself and the rest of the film's cast.

However, she did admit that, as expected they have their moments with one another.

She revealed: 'When you're on set, you're working 90-hour weeks, you're never home, you're exhausted. There are times when all of us have been sensitive and sometimes feelings get hurt. But I don't have any regrets about how I've treated people.'
