Let me be objective, as much I can be, here.
....there would have been more than 2,000 in DC.........but clearly they did not.......i was willing to give it a shot - but unfortunately could not and did not want to specifically postpone something else to make it to DC.......

The core issue is the same, back then and today - fight against Injustice, ill-treatment of human beings by Government.
Here's why Gandhi inspires people like me in our struggle.
"BE the change you'd like to see in the World" ( Gandhi's polite way of saying - cribbing doesn't help. Do it yourself, or ....)
He also said - " It's a bigger sin to suffer injustice than committing it" . [ He wasn't appreciative about Do-Nothings. Not at all. He called them the "greater sinners", as their silence encourages even more injustice]
I agree with you on one thing though. Gandhis struggle was bigger than ours. Ours is nothing compared to it - You talk of no "background checks" in Gandhis time... when people used to be beaten on their head for marching peacefully. Many of them would bleed to death. Our struggle may be inspired by Gandhiji, but we will never be able to match the sacrifices made by othose martyrs. We may be inspired by Gandhis principles, but we can never be the Gandhi.
But the least we can do to respect that great man, is to follow some of his principles (like those stated above) in to our daily lives. Is that too much to ask?
Another take - if US can have an endless source of temporary workers coming in, paying into income tax and social security taxes and medicare taxes for a few years......and going back without claiming a single dime of social benefits......its the best possible situation for US....a forever young, qualified, minimum wages (i.e prevailing wages) earning tax paying transient population supporting/ subsidizing an archaic and otherwise struggling social security and healthcare system.
Another of those arm-chair conspiracy theories. Knowledge retention is critical to companys success. A guy fresh out of college is never equivalent a guy with several years of experience in the same field. Dollar value is dropping, Rupee is rising, salaries in India are rising. If people cannot get GC in a short period of time, there would very little incentive in coming and working here. As you must be aware most H1s these days are used to outsource work to India (by Infy and others), and not to get people to work permanently here. I suggest you read the Kauffman report thoroughly to understand the situation.

You just had diploma and filed in EB2 to get GC fast. I think you took unnecessary risk of filing in EB2. It was sad that no one advised you at that time. If you would have filed in EB3 then CIS would not have asked much questions and approve I140 and I485. Anyhow you still have chance to fight and win but by the time you get GC you may lose lot of sleep. Probably it is worth to wait more EB3 than getting so much stress in EB2.

I think they had given a waiver till August 21 or so for the July fiasco filers.
Do you think I still not have to pay or should I pay the fee ?

USCIS is helpful.
My take on it is this : you have to PAY $340.
A lawyer will always say "DO AS PER INSTRUCTIONS".
But this case although unique, you still belonged to the pre-aug filers, even though there was a waiver (since u were applying based on PD which was for july month).
I remember that during that time USCIS has instructed everyone to add some kind of bright color sheet / paper on top of your application to state clearly that you belong to that group of pre-aug filing people and that you are filing using the old fee structure. that way you are clearly telling them "dont reject me directly because of incorrect fees".
Again although this seems very straightforward to me, that you HAVE TO pay $340, I still recommend you research more/talk to lawyer/USCIS.

This is not true. The Indian citizenship rules were changed sometime in 2003 so that children are not eligible citizenship if the birth was not registered within 1 year or if the child has taken some other passport. These children can get Indian citizenship only after attaining 18 years and renouncing the foreign citizenship.
I think like many Indian government rules, the OCI rules have not been thought out properly.
But within a year you can register a birth and get Indian citizenship, right? Whats stopping you from registering birth within a year?

BTW you don't need rbi clearance.
You can send an overseas wire from india through your bank a/c where the cost would be minimal( only exchange rate diff and cost of wire($25-50).
Your parents can safely gift you $100,000 a year. Your bank only would need a letter from them saying its a gift.
I have tried this to repatriate my assets and it works all the time.
No need to open nre or nro a/c or anything.
ps. don;t entertain any solicitation on this site for reverse hawala or anyhthing as you don;t know who will cheat you!

How do you think the passage of the DREAM ACT could impact our situation ? If they pass this, they would allay a sizeable portion of illegal immigrants to get amnesty through their children (few millions). I am just wondering whether the illegal alien supporters would lose steam to support CIR after this ? Ironically, they would get a sizeable amnesty, overhelm USCIS with millions of applicants and probably make the passage of a CIR bill more distant. I can't think of something less advantageous to us than this. I hope I am totally wrong.
What do you guys think ?

Bush has been espousing all along the cause for comprehensive reform in this area. Most people recognize that there are immigration problems and governmental delays that exist. Most also believe that the system needs to be changed for the better. But just how this should be accomplished is not so easily agreed upon, and so it is a hot-button issue. Many of the hardliners, who took a strong anti-immigration position, lost the recent elections. But there are some who took this stance and won. It also is widely believed that many of the newly elected Democrats expressed anti-immigrant sentiments in their campaigns. Achieving any strong pro-immigration measures may prove to be more daunting than originally was anticipated; certainly more than many hoped it would be. Needless to say, we can expect 2007 to mark the beginning of a time for change and flux in the arena of U.S. immigration law. There is a possibility the DREAM Act could be passed, allowing the children of undocumented immigrants (who complete their high school educations in the United States) to obtain conditional "green card" status if they enroll in college or join the U.S. armed services. Both the Democratic and Republican parties seem inclined to help children. There are individuals, however, who are not willing to give any benefits to children of undocumented immigrants. The information was very helpful for me and others as well.
I think my education evaluation and MCA degree doesn't specifically state that my Master's degree was a three year degree course.
I now have a letter from University stating that it was a three year degree course and we are going for a fresh education evaluation.
I think the lessons learned here is to make sure that the degree and/or EE should clearly state the duration of course.
Any other suggestion or past success is highly appreciated.
Also, my RFE respond date is April 22, 2011 and not March 22nd as mentioned in my orginal post.

I am dismayed and sad � and wanted to step up to the plate for our good friend. I hope you will appreciate my spirit.
Guys, this guy is an asset for any team. How many of us know his name�versus others you know? I do not mind going out on a limb for Robinder as a person � all you need to do is read what he writes. And I would like to answer the question of EAGERR2I about what Robinder may be thinking about our efforts�please go to http://www.dnaindia.com/report.asp?NewsID=1109544. An analysis like that � in the main editorial page of the number 1 newspaper of Bombay, read by the CEOs, film makers, and politicians � imagine what the impact of his words is?

So maybe let us stop bashing up the talent we have�rather let us talk to him and see how he can help us � both in the US and India. I may be getting overly carried away, but I am in the same boat as you all are, and my family is hurting emotionally because of this mess we all are in�but I know how much this guy is working on issues of our interest. There are very few, if any, maybe a total of 4 or 5 people, in the US and India, like Robinder who understand the business, strategic affairs, and politics between the US and India; and the complexities of the relations and the peoples in both countries; and the issue of Indians in America (which means Indian Americans, GC applicants, and also H1 workers).
Robinder will be the last person to seek any publicity out of this. Let�s get all the help that we need from this very influential and highly networked individual for our current and future print and visual media initiatives from Robinder who genuinely believes in the cause and wants to help IV.

I personally am not questioning Robinder's achievements/accomplishments. I am glad that the media mishap is ironed out and it ends there as one of our member said. No one has personal grudges here. You have been a member of IV from 2006 and know Robinder to an extent where you can go on a limb, how come you havent pushed him hard to support this, if not along with IV, but on his own. I have been visting a lot of immigration related internet forums for a while and I never saw any efforts towards this from any American Indian Citizen community. It could just be a coincidence that I might have not noticed any such efforts. I am more than happy to end this discussion here and stop retrospecting. The media mishap has been clarified. Lets leave it there, unless the American Citizen Indian community wants to do their part in achieving our common goal.

You have been a member of IV from 2006 and know Robinder to an extent where you can go on a limb, how come you havent pushed him hard to support this, if not along with IV, but on his own. I have been visting a lot of immigration related internet forums for a while and I never saw any efforts towards this from any American Indian Citizen community. It could just be a coincidence that I might have not noticed any such efforts. I am more than happy to end this discussion here and stop retrospecting. The media mishap has been clarified. Lets leave it there, unless the American Citizen Indian community wants to do their part in achieving our common goal.

Exactly! You can not expect them to do equally well in Indian school system as what they are performing in US. The school system focus is completely different and there is no easy way out for kids/parents to adapt to it. I am not criticizing either school systems. Both of them have pros and cons. And all this discussion holds true when you have option to move to Canada. If you don't, then it's better to pack before the kids grow older.If you have kids then its easy to move to India before the Kid goes to 2nd or 3rd grade ie before they are 8 or 9 yrs old. After that there is no way you can take a kid out of school in US and expect them to be competitive in India.
This is based on US public school system standards (if you are homeschooling its different). I had friends when I was in India who had lived all their lives in Middle Eastern countries and even though they had studied in Indian system they felt it difficult to compete there.

I applied for FOIA on my 140/485 petitions and I have got scanned copies of the file. It took more than an year to get the copies.
To my surprise and disappointment, 140 approval notice was not included in the copies they have sent.
Can we get the copy of I-140 Approval Notice under the Freedom Of Independence Act (FOIA)? If so, please advise the way to do it.
My Details are:
EB2-India-PD-Dec2005-Perm-I 140 Approved in May2006
