Friends, my AP renewal was received by TSC on June 7th (the receipt notice says that), but the on-line status check still says Initial Review. Any body in the same boat waiting with a June 7 receipt date still pending/Intial Review? Or has your case been approved as of that date? Please let me know.

EAD Renewal's are eligible for premium processing, so if you really need a renewed EAD to change a job, it's almost comes down to paying an extra $1000 to get it within 15 days. As far as a new EAD goes, USCIS will have to process it within 90 days. Now that they have stopped issuing Interim EAD's , if you go to to the USCIS local office after 90 days of filing the initial EAD applications, they are obligated to come back to you with an answer on why your application has still not been adjudicated. If you do a google search on interim EAD termination, you will find a couple of links about some law firms planning a class action lawsuit to dispute this. This is still not an issue because most people get their EAD's within 90 days, but you can almost bet your bottom dollar that there will be a hue and cry( read class action lawsuit ) if the first time EAD's get delayed more than 90 days because of administrative delays for reasons such as backlog.

And always send via USPS express mail. (1 day costed me $18) but I came to know instantly the next day that they received it.
You could also use some cheaper USPS option. as long as it has some delivery confirmation.
The reason I like express mail one day, is because u can request a copy of the receiver's signature via email (comes in a PDF). This is proof that USCIS really got it and u can then sleep nicely for the next 3 months.

First of all, you dont have a binary choice in the matter such as either you learn 50,000 words and their spellings or go smoke dope. There is a middle ground here.
Secondly, why do I see in company after company, especially in the knowledge industry that a straight A student, like your Kavya here, working for a manager who had been a B- student who in turn works for an executive who was a C- student ?
Get educated ... that's fine. But dont get over-educated such that you are a cripple who cannot think outside the box. Too much education, too many straight As, too many spellings will make you incapable of thinking outside the box, taking risks. Anyways, that's my belief and my opinion and everyone is free to raise their kids in whatever way they deem fit. I for one, would never ask my 2 children to participate in any spelling bee contest.

By being holier than thou and telling other people "I got a degree from here and you dumb asses have never been to an American college, so get lost you idiot, this job here is mine..." does not help anyone. And let me remind you, there is AN ENTIRE GENERATION of US educated US masters degree holders who had no job after graduating and have been to a desi company to get trained on the real-world software applications. I am sure you know some people yourself, just as I know some people in that situation. If the US masters degree made them super-duper smart, then they would not be knocking doors of desi companies for education after graduating.

This favours temporary workers on H1, L1 etc. An H1/L1 spouse can move to the US easily, but not that of a GC holder. If you want to bring out this "discrimination", that would mean to discontinue H4 visas, as seeminlgly it is a discrimination against a GC holder. Is that you are looking for?

Hi,
I have 3 yrs degree + 1 yr PG diploma. I have been working in industry for past 17 years, and don't think any degree or even doctorate would add much to my qualification for the job that I am doing.
I am currently filed in EB3 category, and new company I am changing job to are ready to refile my GC. But they won't file my GC in EB2 category, as I don't meet the 4 yr BS requirement.
My son will be in the highschool in 4 years, and I don't want to spend a lot of money on getting MS to myself. But for the GC I am looking for fastest and cheapest way to get MS program. I have no idea how it works, what qualifies me for a degree, what can I get credits for. Any inputs would be appreciated.

I have been trying to know more about that university and until now I did not hear anything bad about the university except that the univerisity is Nationally accredited university. Do you know how much more the premium would be for this product compared to regular term? I am guessing a lot more. In that case whole life is better where the cash value generated would pay much more after 30 years based on a low 5.5 - 6% estimated annual return. But of course it is for folks who will stay in US at least 15 years+ because after 15 yeras the Cash Value could itself pay for the permium and you do not have to pay any more premuims unless you wish to boost the Cash Value further.
Its not a lot more.. about $200 more per year.. ... but atleast you get back all your money..

The turnout could easily have been higher (like someone said, see the lines to the doctors office for getting medicals done when the dates were current, and compare that with how many showed up at the rally).

Apparently someone flagged me.. thats fine.. if people here cannot have a proper discussion without having to flag each other I dont see any point in calling ourselves "smart" "highly skilled".. looks like we need to grow up first. It is very unfortunate that people equate job opportunities to the population of the country. If that were the case then India and China would have the most job opportunities in the world because they account for one third of the world population but that's not really the case otherwise we all wouldn't be here in the first place.
Opportunities are defined and provided by the economy. When you compare Canada to US, you might say that it's a smaller economy but remember Canada is a G8 country with such a strong economy that most other countries in the world can only dream of. US is the richest country in the world with the strongest economy so obviously other countries don't offer quite the same opportunities but Canada offers things that has become a dream for many of us... to be a citizen of the country where to permanently reside. Canada offers stability, certainty, hope for the future, and and an opportunity for everyone in your family to realilze their dreams as opposed to sitting at home for years doing nothing hoping that one day that EAD will come. Canada respects immigrants and welcomes them with an open arm quite contrary to policies in US where you are allowed to work but your family is not and even you are kept on the state of limbo for years and years wondering what your future holds in years to come. And better yet, you abide by the laws, pay taxes, do everything by the book yet the guy who just walked across the border has much better chances of becoming a permanent resident than you. Where is the respect and fairness for law abiding folks? That my friend is what is different with Canada. You get treated with respect and dignity and you get to decide what your future holds and not the US government.

I hate to burst your "bubble of hope" but Canadian population and job market is limited and the opportunities for professionals like us are limited. Why not consider going back to India and taking up some of the lucrative opportunities in middle management in the IT industry.

We all are working and in this economy everyone is worried about losing job if they don't go to work. I have two little kids and I work full time. I already used the vacation that I got for this year, it because of kids being sick one after the other and need to be off again next month for loss of pay for a kid's surgery. I know its just two more days and might result in something positive but I can't take a chance of losing my job and then don't have a job when it�s time for my 485 to be approved resulting in denial.
I will donate money but unfortunately, I can't come for the advocacy day. It is a sticky situation for many.
People who cannot attend personally...should contribute in other ways.

What Raj is saying is get your GC first and process your wife's through family based which would take a very loong time...10 years!!!
Now to my views..Your wife will be able to piggyback on your 485 application irrespective of her status H1-B or H-4 or F-1..She's your wife PERIOD...no problems there!!what i don't understand is this bangwagon "lets apply ours first and include our wife's petition later when PD becomes current"...Instead y not apply both petitions together when PD becomes current again!!Atleast you wouldn't have to worry what if my petition gets approved b4 my PD becomes current!!!And god knows how many years of H1-B extensions they would give you once you have your applied 485 receipt!!!At the end of the day it is your choice!!!

Sorry to hear that. I am just making a point that my attorney told me that if you are on EAD with AC 21 and your 485 is denied for some reason then you are out of status that made me change my mind from using AC21.

Can the wire transfer be requested online using ICICI's(or HDFC's) website ? Or do you need personnally do it from India ?
In my case, the request was processed at the local branch. I don't recall seeing an option on ICICI to do the wire transfer. But assuming there is, you should give that a shot. You might have better luck at the branch though .... RBI has the so called KYC - Know Your Customer rules for all banks and that may give you some leeway.
