EVERY IV member should be planning to attend the rally!!! This is a historic opportunity. There is already buzz in the news and our past actions have made people take notice! Congress will be able to do something this Fall, but not after that due to the presidential campaigns. THEY WILL ONLY ACT IF WE SPEAK UP! That is the American way! While I wait for GC and chewed up all finger nails, I thought its good time to think about adding a qualification to myself.
I do not want to spend rest of my life in development. :cool:
I was doing some research on Online MBA (no..not the diploma mills or degree printing ones)
My criteria was,
1) Institutions that require GMAT
2) AACSB Accredited
3) Has some sensible ranking in USNews or Financial Times or Business Week
4) Can be done without leaving current job (occasional visit to universities are fine with me)
Here are the universities I came up
1) Warrington College of Business, Florida (USNEWS ranking)
2) WP Carey, Arizona State University (USNEWS ranking)
3) Kelley Direct, Indiana University (highly regarded)
4) Penn State World Campus MBA
And then there are many $$ category colleges which I didnt bother to check..I can't pay those fees :)
Now, can any one suggest or comment or refer to any other college?
Also, what kind of disciplines we should check in an MBA..I dont know if MBA finance will be good..as such I have no preferences. (anything related to Investment banking etc will be good though)

Isn't there a limit of 27% of visas per quarter per country per calendar year ? If that limit is there then who will take precedence ? Quarterly Spill over or that limit ?
To me I think DOS is doing 27% quota limit for first 3 quarters then they are doing spill over so there is no quarterly spill. What if they will show us that there is a limit per quarter in law and they have to follow it. Is it something like deadlock. that trying to follow one law breaks another one.
What if we end up getting response that there is some action needed from Lawmakers to correct law..

You don't get it, do you? I've never talked about you. What I am saying is simply this: If you don't limit the number of immigrants from one country, you essentially become a part of that country with the influx of people coming from there. This is what people in America are afraid of. They can't limit the influx of illegal immigrants from Mexico and other latin america countries, and it is becoming a big deal for them, since they don't want to be forced to learn spanish next time they go to a diner.
Is it racist? probably so. But remember, it is their country; They make the laws. They can make people dance for 5 minutes at ports of entry while they film it and post it to youtube if they like (see recent articles about search and seizures of returning greencard holders' electronic equipment).

I believe you are overlooking three very important facts.
1. The USCIS main priority at the moment is to reduce backlogs. Unfortunately retrogression works in their favor because it reduces the processing they have to do. Your proposal would increase the processing by forcing them to accept 485 filings and building up a backlog.
2. The USCIS administrator would not be allowed to make a decision like this without input from Congress. It's radically different from concurrent processing, which is a minor administrative change. With AC21, filing 485 without a visa number would allow people to change jobs etc, so it is in the realm of political decisions, not administrative.
3. The USCIS can't even manage to get premium I140 processing (planned since 2002), multi-year EAD's (overdue for years now) or issue regulations on AC21 (due since 2000). Even Congress can barely get them to act!

The real face of America, as we used to see it in India is in full light. Hypocrisy under the name of protecting country's job. I agree with Ash's post that in its substance that unlike holocaust, we are not being killed, however; we are being thrown out just like ethnic Indians were thrown out of Uganda by its dictator. This is not much different.
I understand some people making an argument that this is demand vs supply. But what logic does it make to go aggressively after those who have spent 5-10 years in this country and followed almost everything legally? and at the same time those who are voters , provide them benefits with our tax paid money.
Problem is not them , problem is us. We left our country sick of reservation etc., So our community was sidelined by the politicians in India and we came here foregoing our "voting rights". Hence politicians here dont care about us. We gave up where we belonged to looking for "shortcut" to success only to be deceived by opportunist Americans dangling carrots of green cards and better life.
They are career politicians and they care only about elections and votes. So this is nothing but vote bank politics.

Sorry for the late response. I was actually out of country when my GC got approved. Just got back today.
I did not use AC 21. I have been with the same employer throughout the process. However, I changed job location after 140 approval. Hence, I had to refile labor (PERM) from new location but ported the older PD. Since, my PD was not current, I did not loose any time even with refiling labor. Hope this helps. Please let me know if if you have any more questions.

Whilst in general a name change does sound like a good idea, we have spent a lot of time and money making sure that Immigration Voice as an organization is known.

One thing we can do immediately is to add the words " An organisation of Legal Immigrants" or something to that effect under the globe which says immigration voice on it on the top left corner of the web page. This will immediately make know of our status to those who visit us..Just my 25 cents...;)

Hi Guys I'm pretty new in all this and i've been following this discussion and perhaps someone can help me.... here is the question.... Do I have a visa number available ?? If so why am I waiting that long??
here is my story:
i'm EB3 world - got my labor pd is 05/2002, and I concurrent filled I-485/I-140 on 05/2003.... already made 2 fingerprints..... I-140 was approved on 12/2005 (TSC).... i renew my EAD every year since I filled.
if what you guys are saying is correct that in order to accept the I-485 to be filled USCIS need to have a visa number available to the applicant.... y am I still waiting?? :confused:

When you filed your I-485, there were VISA numbers, which in theory could have been used to grant you GC( I-485 approval ). But, they didn't act quick enough on your case to approve it, instead they worked on other cases and approved those, meanwhile, they got thousands more request for GC(Visa number ), and they started giving it based on priority date.
Had they known there will be thousands of applications of older priority date, they wouldn't have accepted your application, as they can not approve it. But they didn't know, hence accepted the application. Now, it would just sit there till more numbers are availble and everybody who has priority date before you gets GC.
Everybody who has priority date prior to your priority date is technically ahead of you, even though they have not been able to file their I-485 yet, hence VISA number would go to them first :D
Anybody who hasn't yet filed 485, willl have to wait till the VISA bulletin passed thier PD.

We know very well that by current interpretation EB3 is permanently fixed to the back of the line. NO EB3 will get processed until the last EB2 who files in the year 2013 gets approved, (counting out the regular quota).
And why are we here? Many believe (or know) that it is because of the 245(i) amnesty signed by Clinton and Bush.
Isn't it ironic that the illegals that were put in the line are not being moved back as the line expands? Why only we legals? Maybe there is some scope to challenge the 245(i) visa number allocation and point out that legal immigrants are waiting in line then how can you admit illegals in front
Anyone having the facts and numbers of 245(i)?
This will need a legislative change.
