Guys,
My visa stamping on my passport expires on end of Sep 2009. I am planning to go to India mid July 2009 and come back mid August 2009. I have H1B-I-797 extension upto August 2011. My I-94 which was issued at the POE and the I-94 at the bottom of the extended I-797 has the same number. From what I know when I leave US I should hand over bothe I-94s(given at POE & one below I-797). From what I heard from friends, IO is suppose to give new I-94 validity date based on the extended I-797 validity date and should not give based on date of expiry of visa stamp on the passport.

My friend who filed his 485 in June, got his GC two months back. His PD was 2001. How did he get his GC within 3 months of filing 485 when the 485 processing time not even showed June 07 till now?
These dates are for mere reporting purposes. I think even if they have one application with 1999 date, they might show 1999 as processing date. With my experience with these dates and USCIS, I cannot figure out the rationale behind these reports from USCIS. Someone might be sitting there in USCIS with 20-30 randomn dates and play inky... pinky...ponky... father ...has a.. donkey... bla bla bla and then pick a date for this report. All BS.

Everyone -
I've been going through my own immigration issues like everyone else in this forum. It is really sad to see that immigration bills such as the Visa Re-Capture and others that would have been greatly beneficial to us are making little to no progress. I've been thinking about a way to make a difference for a long time but felt helpless.
It is difficult to shed light on our problems in the media in a way that others (who are not in our situation) can at-least think about the struggles we go through. I'm sure everyone has been contributing in their own way to make our voices heard.
Today, I'm happy to share our small contribution to our issues. We are making a film called "Promise Land" to be released in Spring/Summer 2011 time frame. It's about the struggles that immigrants go through despite being legal and following the law. The film has multiple story lines dealing with family based immigration and employment based immigration.
Of course we would love to tell everyone's stories, but in 1 hour 30 mins we can only do so much. So we have attempted to share stories from our personal experience.
I hope that this movie is at-least a step in the right direction. We just released the trailer on Saturday. You can watch it at:

In similar context I have a few questions...
The EB2 date is stuck at Jan 08,2003 for months now.I know about retrogression and all that. But can someone explain why the date is not moving? Is it because they ran out of numbers for EB2 for FY 06? (Like they do in H1 cases)
Also does anyone know why the EB2 visa numbers were dropped from 537 in FY05 to 145 in FY06? and why suddenly in 2006 they granted so many visas(6083 in FY06 vs 0 in FY05) to Schedule A workers (Nurses,Physical Therapist,Aliens with excep ability) ? was Schedule A category backlogged for all these years? I am just trying to get some things cleared about how the visa numbers are allocated.
As most EB3 numbers go to IT software and as there are so many issues, until DOS and USCIS fix these issues they wont move these forward

All the people that got the EAD approval have their pending I485 in the same service center where they applied for EAD renewal...does this have anything to do with their fast approvals?

I applied for EAD renewal at TSC on June 24 with a pending EB3 I485 pending at NSC. I still have not got an approval for EAD renewal!

My parents are going to visit USA first time. Does anyone of you suggest Medical Insurance information ? I am not sure which company I should choose for visitor Medical Insurance.
I used SRI..Speciality Risk and was happy with the prices they gave me - www.specialityrisk.com
I heard a couple of problems about getting insurance in India, when I first started searching a couple of years ago, but don't remember what they are right now. For all I know, it may not be true now.

Sorry if this question has been answered already. I searched and could not find any related threads.
My H1B is expiring in December (6 years). My 140 is approved and 485 is pending. I have my EAD card but still working on H1B. I can get a 3 year extension for my H1b as 140 is approved.
My priority date is Feb 2007.
Is it a good idea to renew my H1B even though I already have My EAD?
If I get the H1B extension, would I need visa stamping or can I use AP travel document and still be on H1B?

Hi,
My H1 B is expiring on 30 Sep 2010. I have not started my green card process. Is it too late to start now? Can I get extension based on number of days I have been out of country in last 6 years.? (119 days) If I include that is it still late to start and not worth my time and money? What are my options? If I leave the country and come back after 1 year, I will be counted for the H1 B quota? I have MS in CSE from univsersity in USA. My husband applied for GC and I have dependent EAD till Oct 2010 but then he moved out of USA last year and got H4 to come visit. Is that application still valid for me to be able to get EAD extension? Can he still come back on H1 B or EAD? Any help/advice on my situation will be very helpful.

My case is already at the embassy since march 2007? Not sure when they schedule interview ?does anyone know the time lines.
Did you check the Embassy website? They post the interview dates for all the applicants scheduled for the following month. You can email them or call them and I am sure they will respond.

The Federal government is about to start knocking on the doors of employers, demanding to see I-9 records and more. An employer is usually required to produce this documentation within three days. A sample I-9 subpoena is below.

I sent an email to chennai consulate requesting emergency appointment and they gave me the earliest available date. I had to provide my passport number and return travel date.
Went to HDFC bank and got the DD for visa fees and VFS fees and went to consulate at the specified time. Visa interview went fine and the officer said I could collect my passport at the VFS counter if I need it immediately.
I went to the chennai VFS counter for 2 days in a row to collect my passport and they said they did not recieve it yet. The third day I called and was told that passport can be picked up. But when my uncle went to pick it up they said it was not there.
I called the courier company Bluedart and gave them my passport number and they said it is in transit and I recieved it.
So the visa interview went fine but there were some unexpected delays in recieving the passport. Finally I got it on the day of my travel and came back to US finally.
Just wanted to update all about my experience and thank you for all your help.
