There’s certainly more to 90210 star Shenae Grimes than meets the eye.

Along with being a successful actress, the 20-year-old can also sing and direct too.

And the star got the chance to display her talents in a new music video for Myself & I, a song which she sings and also wrote.

‘I had gotten the itch a couple months back to delve into directing and the world of production,’ Grimes told Paper Magazine.

‘I was inspired by a situation in my own life to write a simple story about a boy and a girl.

‘The simplicity of the story paired with the choice to use a song instead of dialogue, allowed me the freedom to get creative in my means of storytelling.

The video stars Grimes’ 90210 co-star Ryan Eggold, who plays English teacher Ryan Matthews in the teen series which is shown on American network The CW.

‘I wanted a film that looked beautiful and made people feel something without telling them how they should feel,’ added Grimes who plays Annie Wilson on the show.

The young star has made no secret of the fact that she’s not really interested in fame despite becoming a paparazzi target since she began the show in 2008.

‘The world that I was brought up in. It just didn’t exist, and never in my wildest dreams would I imagine being one of the girls on the cover of the tabloids,’ she told Movieline in an interview last year.

‘I had never been one of those people that got into it for the fame — that’s kind of the bull**** that I have to deal with. I like acting, you know?

'So it was culture shock for me, and it took a while to find a way to be okay with it and to accept having [paparazzi] in your face and figure out how to keep them at a distance and keep them bay.'

The third series of 90210 will air in the U.S. next month.
