I actually don't think this is the main concern of many people who have not contributed. I have talked with many friends who got stuck with their GC applications regarding IV and urged them to contribute. However, not many of them were very passionate about this. They just simply believed that they could not achieve their GCs faster with IV's effort than without. $20 per month is not a big deal for them. But without any confidence and hope, they did not even want to bother to register and contribute. Most of my friends are EB2 with PD 2004 or later. Some who have filed 485s see no sign for SKIL being passed and are fine with their APs and EADs. Those who have not filed their 485 truly believe that they could file their 485s in about 2 years and got used to this waiting.
So I think maybe we can let people know what IV has achieved in the past one year(not just how many members or how much money IV has achieved..., but things really matter to people) and inspire them.

No change can be made with such an attitude. If it were for such lazy people, no revolution/change could have been organized and this world would still be be under imperialistic forces. I joined IV recently and I visit IV website several times a day. Few days back I had the patience to search and read earlier forum discussions on IV and immigrationportal. I read the forum threads in which it was discussed how IV delivered all the amendments in the last year Senate bill. What more results do these people want? I admit that I don't understand all the amendments and all the provisions that IV got for us in the Senate bill. But isn't it a big deal to simply organize in the matter of few months and then get our provisions passed in the Senate. What more results should we expect to judge IV? The only other result is when IV will get all our amendments in the next immigration bill that will be passed by the congress. By then, it would be too late for these people, who refuse to participate at this time. And I don’t plan to wait for them. So I just signed up for $50/month monthly subscription. More importantly, my wife and I will request all our friends to sign-up for monthly subscription.

May be because your son is a US Citizen...
My wife thought the same but I don't think my son's citizenship has played any role. The officer's conversation was only with the DRIVER. All the questions were directed at my buddy(driver). he said he could have fined him even for the passengers' inability to prove the status.
So i am wondering if the rule/law dictates that only the driver should be questioned unless it's a commercial/public transportation.
During my last H1 stamping in Mumbai over 3 yrs ago, officer's third question was if we have a US citizen child and we said yes then there was a brief pause and he said "Congrats, your visa is granted and your passports will be mailed".
so if i must vote yes or no on whether son's citizenship works in our favor then i'd say "Yes".
There's no doubt US govt "cares a lot" about their citizens, that'd probably be the reason i would want to be a US citizen even at the price of giving up Indian citizenship :)

Different opinions have been expressed in this forum over Murthy's letter to DHS. I think any letter or noise helps the situation. When writing to congressmen and senators about our difficulties with the legal immigration system we can quote the letter to make the point. Legal immigration issues have long been ignored in this country. It is time for Legal Immigration issues to be in the limelight.

if we have a clear answer and hold on following questions i think then only we can make USCIS/DOS to behave.
1) Is USCIS or DOS accountable for anything? if they do anything wrong can we do anything?
2) If USCIS post incorrect and bogus numbers of demand do we have a right or anything to challenge them?
3) If USCIS says that they are doing quarterly spillover and don't do that can we do anything legally?

USCIS did not say that they will return the application and they should be refilled.
With their announcement on July 17th, they have about 16 more days in this month left. It is a heavy workload for them to reject all the petitions (minimum 200K packages) which is unnecessary work and cost enourmous amount of money.
Also they will not invite another problem if the do not give sufficient time to the clients to file, what if someone receives the package Auguest 15. That will be another mess up.
It looks like SCs have rejected some applications on the same day (July 2nd), those applicants should have already received them(on July 3rd or 4th). They have to refile. Rejections after July 17th may not be true.

Do any of you think that the dates will move forward next month? Looking at the backlog numbers published by USCIS, I think they moved as far as they could to make use of all the available visas. I am thinking that the move next month might be only a few days or a month at the max. USCIS mentioned last month that we could expect the dates to be March/April 06 at the end of this fiscal year. Will this mean that EB2I will hold out at March / April 06 for the next fiscal year?

I have heard from people who have worked there that Socialism has eaten away at the insides of the European economy so much that they do not care if an immigrant helps them make more money. The House Judiciary Committee yesterday postponed consideration of bills containing massive foreign worker increases (H.R. 5882 and H.R. 5924) after the committee's debate stalled during discussions on the armed forces amnesty bill (H.R. 6020). The committee is expected to resume consideration of all three bills on September 18

Time is right now to recapture the visa numbers.

We need to raise funds for the sole purpose of passing the EB Visa Re-Capture Bill!
I agree with you, this is a right time to go for visa recapture. We don't have to mention anywhere for H1B. This will be just for visa recapture.

I felt sympathy for the OP. That was well written. I agree that xyzgc missed the point on what the OP was trying to say.
You on the other hand are arrogant. Are you saying that it is your right to buy a house? And we all should sympathize with you when you lose your house? And we need to fund your extravagant spending with our tax dollars, while some of us weigh in the risks and decide to live in rented house.
I wish I get my share of the bail out money. I wanted that Ferrari. Damn, I need to 'enjoy my life and my desire to lead quality of life'.
Nothing is right or wrong, as meaning of quality of life is a very subjective thing.
In Japan, people work hard, send money/products to the US, and be happy for better quality of life by looking at increasing balances in their bank books each morning, and don't care what homes/cars they have.
In the US, people get happy for better quality of life by looking at their new BMW's, and nicely furnished homes (bought by money borrowed from Japanese investors), and don't care what they owe.
Both are unhappy too, for not having enough what they want more, Japanese want to have bigger balances in their bank books, and American want bigger BMW's and homes.
"Peace of Mind - Do you have" referenced in posts above is just a price for the quaility of life they "enjoy". No enjoyment comes without a price.

The way I read it is ...People with PD's earlier than 2004-05 have been their long enough to understnd the pain and hence are active in all these forums , participate in such polls etc.
Others are happy with their EAD's and know anyway it's going to be a while and are in hibernation ...cannot blame them ...this GC following can get stressfull ....ignorance is bliss....suddenly the laws might change or something like July 07 might happen again ....
I think only those who got stuck in the Labor backlog (This could be huge #) and few other unlucky ones like me are the ones who are still waiting in India-EB3 Catergory pre 2004.
I know a bunch of India-EB3 pre 2004 got approved in the gold rush of July 2007
