Guys.. my kind request - keep up your hopes and let's dream for the best. Dont get lost in what went wrong and what is going to be wrong. Be the change you want to see. Do everything you can to support the bills, and have fun in life. Not for a moment - be unhappy.

Chill out my desi brethren!!!
In what way did "buddyinsfo" dis India and Indian Muslims? What he said is absolutely right. Its not like ARR had not made good scores before. I mean just listen to his flute composition in the movie Roja, it gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.
I have read your posts and about 10% of it is usually TOTAL BS. Please go and visit the thread about "ethnic cleansing", there is an answer and a question from me waiting for you.
Let me guess, you are a pakistani terrorist. Now you are jealous that how come an Indian muslim win 2 oscars? How will you give out your hateful message to other pakistanis terrorists that indian muslims are being torchured, so you have to "save" indian muslims. Too bad, no pakistani got an oscar. I know why, because the terror capital of the world is going down the drain pretty fast.

Dunno how credible this information is, but quoting from usvisainfo (Pederson Immigration Law Group, P.C. - Home (http://www.usvisainfo.com/))... "Mr. Charles Oppenheim who is the official in charge of the Department of State visa number allocations and probably the only person alive who truly understands the mysterious and sometimes mystical movement of immigrant visa numbers made the following predictions for the movement of visa numbers during the current fiscal year as of October 17, 2009:
* Indian EB2 may become unavailable by March or April 2010 for the remainder of the fiscal year.
* Indian and China EB3 category will like advance a little in December 2009.
* Indian EB2 has 35,000 applicants in line.
* Indian EB3 has 54,000 applicants in line.
* Worldwide EB2 should remain current for this fiscal year.
* There are 15,000 EB2 Chinese applicants in USCIS line as of 10/13/09.

All arguments are very sensible. No doubt about it. am working on an EAD and they did not incur any legal cost. However, I get frustrated thinking why they charge $180 per hour to the client.... even when the cost to company for me is about $110K per annum or around $60 per hour. I do not know whether I am worth $180 per hour or not....but probably more than $60/hr since they can charge $180 / hr
We really need to analyze this deeply if we want to come up with a strategy....
Thanks for the 3 red dots which I recieved....

Could anybody please share the explanation letter required for AP? I am still on H1-B but do not intend to go for stamping. I would need only for emergency.

..and why not EB2 to EB1 and EB1 to EB1-NIW..and so on...
because the backlog for EB3 is currently staring at close to 10 years and an EB2 requirement is around 5 years of progressive experience, which might enable many of them who would have progressed in their careers due to a 10 year wait for green card.
Why not EB2 to EB1 is because, EB1 is for exceptionally skilled people(athletes, doctors, multi-national managers(via L1A) etc). For EB2 candidates to be pushed to EB1, they need to exceptionally skilled which cannot be gained via experience but by acquiring skills which will place them in those categories.
If they can acquire those skills, then they automatically qualify for EB1 or EB1-NIW and can apply anytime by themselves. Note, EB1 does not need a labor approval too.
Hope that makes clear the distinction between EB1, EB2 & EB3. Employment-based GC applying lessons 101...of course this is the simplest one...:D

Hi,
I have applied in EB2 category with job title of Sr. software engineer. and I have frnds who have applied for EB2 under, Programmer analyst, team lead.
But all of them had Master of science from USA.
And all of us have our I140 cleared and waiting to apply for I485 when its gets current.
Reno, could you please give us more information about your and your friends' experience :
- What your qualifications are.
What the Sr. software engineer job requirements were. Things like:
- Education
- Experience
and also more info about your experience with PERM:
- Processing center. Chicago or Atlanta?
- Processing time.
- Any audits?
- Any business necessity documentation requirements?
I know I'm asking for a lot of info but I think it would be extremely helpful for many folks who are preparing to file under EB2 to avoid regression.

This is a good discussion. Hope others benefit from it !
I recently purchased 250K term-insurance policy for $11.66 per-month from NY Life. I'm 30 yrs old and qualified for their top-level health rate (eating right and exercise has financial benefits !). I guess they are the only good ones who sell policies to H1. Also, my policy has terminal illness coverage meaning that they'll pay out the amount in-case of terminal illness even if I'm not dead. I have another 100K coverage from employer (no cost). I'm not covering 10 times my current salary but I'm calculating by using equivalent Indian salary and not US. I consider myself amply covered. Also, my policy will remain active even if I decide not to wait for GC and move to India.
Now my 2 cents about Term vs. Whole Life debate. It doesn't make any sense to buy whole-life at young age. But since the cost of term maybe prohibitively high at 60+ one should convert to whole-life at some point unless one can find/buy a fixed rate policy till 80 or something (plan to die a little b4 that :D )

Thanks for your informed comments. Like you, I am also surprised to find many people in this forum, who are interested in fire arms.
I don't own a fire arm and not planning to while the immigration status is not yet Citizenship. I don't want the authorities to give another reason to look into my case. I just go for fishing once in a while.
But our family owns two guns in India and have worked with guns from childhood.
Another point is I am very much impressed with how the Americans manage wild life and the nature in general. They enjoy it while preserving it. India does neither. We just destroy it, and write eloquent speeches on nature protection.
Thank you, always glad to help. Many years ago, I was looking for answers to these questions and had to do my own research, internet forums weren't as big then.
I am a hunter as well, and when I went through hunter education, I was amazed to learn how serious the west was about wildlife and nature conservation. Hunting is a very important part of nature conservation. Every country that legalizes hunting, does so in a controlled manner in order to prevent a biological surplus in a species' habitat.
I don't fish that often, except for the odd deep sea fishing trip when the weather is nice, but anything that can get one outdoors breathing fresh air wins my vote.
godspeed,

So here come the thing. Thats why i asked in my original post is IV just for people who have applied for Green card ? I wanted to know if they could address these issues as well . Regarding inability to work and self esteem , just stay in home for few days and then feel how much you loose. Man , its 21st century and ability to work is basic right.
First of all, IV is a grass roots org. I guess I dont need to tell what grass roots is. That means every one has to be a foot soldier in an effort. I understand that your problem is not the same as majority of the members here have. Thanks to IV on the VB fiasco. IV is not a share holder company that will give you results every Q. If you want accountability, you can find how the money is being spent. I guess some one posted it here very recently. Its publicly available on the net.
Based on my understanding, I can easily tell that IV has more than a full plate and neither funds nor grass roots efforts (there are few people who do the actual work. there are a lot who ask whether IV will do this or that. I guess they think every one else does the work than themselves) to push for H4's ability to work.
Oh wait a sec! While I have no issues with it, there will be a severe backlash on adding new workers. Again this is not my view. what you will get to hear if you go on the hill. Such provisions can be pushed when the economy is better and on a bigger vehicle such as CIR. In these times, just try not to get hit by Grassley & Durbin who will impose restrictions on the SC company you are working for. Imagine that!
While I agree that inability to work is a bad thing, I respectfully disagree that it causes a loss of self esteem. It results in a loss of self esteem when you have the opportunity to work, but you become a couch potato eating cheese curls and watching who wants to be a millionaire. You are encumbered by a stupid visa rule but not physically/legally encumbered to break out of it.
Obviously there are other things that are balancing or overpowering your spouse's inability to work, other wise you would be in Singapore or Canada or UKor where ever spouses are allowed to work.

If I had my green card today, I would surely be making at least 15K more in my salary per annum repeat per annum.
If not all, many of you are in the similar situation.
My $200 contribution is just 1.33% of that lost opportunity per annum. If I take into consideration the 4 years of wait, it comes to 0.33%.
Almost anybody who is in US for 5 years on H1B can buy an nice little home. (Bay area is bit more cruel).
Last year I could have bought a home for say 500K. It would have surely appreciated by 50K. But because of the uncertainty of GC, I can not. That's a loss of opportunity of 50K.
My $200 contribution is just 0.4% of that another lost opportunity.
Now you know why I support this effort.
Most of you and your friends are in a situation similar as mine.
I urge you to become aware, make them aware and support this effort, which has a potential to minimize those lost financial opportunities, with your wallet.
Thanks,
nviren
